The number, which is among the highest in recent months, shows that demand for both leisure and business travel has persisted despite uncertainty in the world economy.

This year, monthly arrivals have continuously remained above 100,000, according to statistics from the High-Frequency Economic Indicators, confirming Ghana’s increasing appeal as a centre for conferences, leisure travel, and investment prospects in West Africa.

Given the increased competition from regional counterparts, many of which are stepping up their attempts to draw tourists from abroad, the August performance is especially noteworthy.

Additionally, it identifies government-backed advertising campaigns, enhanced flight connectivity, and focused assistance for the tourism value chain as important factors contributing to Ghana’s resilience.

The last quarter of the year, which is typically the busiest time of year for international travel, is predicted to see an increase in these arrivals.

However, maintaining pace will require ongoing infrastructure investment, expedited visa procedures, and improved security measures to draw in high-value travellers.

Complementary industries like hospitality, retail, and transportation—all of which are vital drivers of job growth and economic diversification—are also expected to gain from the consistent increase in passenger numbers.
