Abeiku Santana declares Ghana the safest and most competitive tourism hub in West Africa
Abeiku Santana, the deputy chief executive officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, has claimed that Ghana has established itself as one of the most alluring and competitive travel destinations in West Africa, citing the nation’s solid security credentials and rising visitor numbers.
Abeiku Santana stated in an interview with TV3 that Ghana continues to rank highly on international safety indices and currently leads the sub-region in visitor arrivals. He claims that foreign tourists’ confidence has been greatly increased by the nation’s reputation for security and tranquilly.
“Ghana has been rated the safest country in West Africa. When it comes to visitor numbers, we are the leading destination in the region, which tells you how secure the country is. On the global safety index, Ghana ranks very highly,” he stated.
He used the occasion to commend the Ghana Police Service and the Cyber Security Authority for their efforts to protect the country and maintain its reputation abroad. Abeiku Santana underlined that the cooperation of these organisations has been essential to preserving Ghana’s standing as a top vacation destination.
He clarified that the allegations made by a woman in a recent viral video that she had been abducted by Ghana Police Service officers was later refuted.
“Regarding the video that circulated online where a lady alleged she was kidnapped by the Ghana Police, she later admitted she had been paid to make that claim,” he explained.
He added that the Cyber Security Authority had effectively located the person’s digital trail, which included her travel logs and personal data. “They were able to track everything, her details and even the flight she boarded,” he added.
Abeiku Santana emphasised that Ghana’s security systems are still vigilant and efficient while cautioning against attempts to undermine the nation’s security agencies. He restated that travellers from the African diaspora find Ghana particularly enticing due to its reliable safety record, kind hospitality, and rich cultural legacy.
“Do not underestimate Ghana’s security apparatus. The country has become one of the most competitive tourist destinations, particularly for African-Americans,” he concluded.
